ALICE COOPER Presents Stevie Ray Vaughan Award To CHRIS CORNELL; Photos Available
May 13, 2007Veteran rocker Alice Cooper presented the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award to former AUDIOSLAVE/SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell for Cornell's "dedication an support of the MusiCares MAP Fund and his devotion to helping other addicts with the recovery process" at the third-annual MusiCares Map Fund Benefit concert, which took place this past Friday (May 11) at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre in Hollywood, CA.
The MusiCares MAP Fund provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment regardless of their financial situation.
The benefit also honored independent music promoter Jeff McClusky with the MusiCares From the Heart Award for his work with the organization.
The dinner featured performances by Cornell, ARMY OF ANYONE, DEPECHE MODE singer David Gahan and others.

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was last year's recipient of the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award.
Cornell went through rehab for alcohol and painkillers in early 2002.
